LEI Transfer – Move Your LEI Number to LEI System

If you already have an LEI code but it is currently managed by another service provider, you can transfer it to LEI System.
An LEI transfer is an administrative procedure that does not change your LEI number or your company data. You only pay for the LEI renewal based on the selected period (1, 3, or 5 years).

What is an LEI transfer?

An LEI (Legal Entity Identifier) is an international identifier for legal entities used in financial transactions and regulatory reporting.
An LEI transfer means moving the management of your existing LEI code to LEI System.

During the transfer process:

• the LEI number does not change

• the company data is verified

• only the service provider managing the LEI changes

How does the LEI transfer work?

1. Application
   You submit an LEI transfer and renewal request and select the appropriate validity period.
2. Data verification
   We verify your company’s registration data.
3. LEI transfer
   We submit the transfer request in the GLEIF system. The transfer process may take up to 7 days, depending on your current service provider.
   During the transfer, your current LEI service provider may contact you regarding the LEI transfer process.
   This is a standard part of the procedure defined by GLEIF and typically does not require any additional action.
4. LEI renewal
   Once the transfer is completed, we carry out the LEI renewal in accordance with GLEIF rules.

LEI transfer and the 60-day rule

After the transfer is completed, we will send you your company data for review and confirmation.
After confirmation, we proceed with the LEI renewal, which usually takes up to 24 hours.

LEI renewal is carried out within the 60-day window defined by GLEIF prior to the LEI expiry date.

• If your LEI expires within the next 60 days, the renewal is completed immediately.
• If your LEI expires in more than 60 days, we will begin the renewal process once the remaining validity period reaches 60 days.

In both cases, the new validity period is added to the current one and starts from the existing expiry date.
NB! The amount already paid for the current LEI validity year is not lost.

Fees and validity – important information

The LEI transfer itself is an administrative procedure and does not involve an additional fee.
You only pay for the LEI renewal based on the selected period.

Renewing the LEI within the 60-day window does not affect the amount already paid for the current validity year.
Time and money already paid for the current LEI year are not lost.

If you have previously prepaid multiple years with another service provider, those prepaid periods cannot be transferred as part of the LEI transfer.
This is a rule defined by the GLEIF system and applies uniformly across all service providers.

The new validity period is always added to the end of the current validity period.
In accordance with GLEIF rules, LEI validity is renewed in the LEI database and company registry data is verified once per year.

LEI transfer vs LEI renewal – what is the difference?

LEI renewal means extending the validity of your LEI with the current service provider.
LEI transfer with renewal means that LEI management is first transferred to LEI System and then the renewal is carried out.

The LEI number does not change, and the entire process is simple for you — we handle the technical and administrative aspects on your behalf.
